Troubleshooting & FAQ

When something looks wrong: the usual suspects, in checklist form — plus where to get help fast.

Start here when something looks off. Most surprises in the Engine aren't bugs — they're a filter that's still active, two views on different periods, or an account size scaling numbers differently than you expected. This section works through those in order.

The 30-second checklist

Before anything else, check these four:

  1. Is a filter still on? The Strategy Browser remembers your filters. If the catalog looks emptier than it should, hit Reset all and start again.
  2. Are two views on the same period? The Browser and the Portfolio Builder each have their own period selector. A strategy's MAR at 8W and the same strategy inside a 26W portfolio are supposed to differ.
  3. Is your account size what you think? It drives every margin percentage and the Monte Carlo's starting capital — but not the catalog's metrics, which are always normalized to a standard $100,000 account per contract.
  4. Is the data through date what you expect? New backtest data lands roughly weekly; the Data through pill tells you the truth about what you're looking at.

Still stuck? Ask in Discord

Sign in to the Engine and open Community & Support at the bottom of the left sidebar — the Discord link is there, open to everyone on every plan. It's the fastest way to get an answer: post the screen you're looking at and what you expected, and either we or someone who hit the same thing last week will help.
